Houthis Claim Video Shows Downed Saudi F-15 Jet in Yemen
Yemen's Houthi rebels released a video claiming they shot down a Saudi F-15 fighter jet using a surface-to-air missile. The claim has not been independently verified, and if confirmed, it would mark the second such downing of an F-15 by hostile fire.
Why it matters
The claim emerges amid the long-running conflict between the Saudi-led coalition and Iran-backed Houthi forces, both of which have repeatedly traded accusations over downed aircraft and drones. Official confirmation or denial from Riyadh would signal how advanced Houthi air-defense capabilities have become, potentially affecting the fragile regional truce.
